Novena to Beata Madre Teresa
8th Day
“Jesus made himself the Bread of Life and the hungry.”
“He showed his love for us by giving his own life, his own being. ‘Him, being rich, made himself poor’ for you and for me. He surrendered himself completely. He died on the cross. But before he died, he made himself the bread of life to satisfy our hunger for love of Him. He said, “If they do not eat my flesh and drink my blood they will not have eternal life.” And the greatness of this love he converted into the hungry and said ‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat, and unless you give me something to eat, you cannot enter eternal life.’ This is the way of giving of Christ. And today, God continues loving the world. He continues sending to you and to me to show that he loves the world, that he still has the compassion for the world. We are the ones who have to BE his love, his compassion in the world of today. But, to be able to love, we must have faith, and faith in action is love, and love in action is service. Because of this, Jesus made himself the Bread of Live, so that we would be able to be able to eat and live and be able to see him under the disfigured disguise of the poor.”
“Our live should be intertwined with the Eucharist. From Jesus in the Eucharist, we learn of the great thirst of God to love us, and how he is thirsty for our love and thirsty for love of souls. From Jesus in the Eucharist we receive the light and the strength to quench this thirst.”
Thought of the day
“Believe that he, Jesus, is under the appearance of bread and that he, Jesus, can be found in the hungry, the naked, the sick, the lonely, the not loved, the homeless, the defenseless, and the desperate.”
Ask for the grace of a profound faith that makes you see Jesus in the bread of live, and serve him in the disfigured disguise of the poor.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus (here make your request). Teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others. Amen. Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for me. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for me.
